Neutral

First off, let me just apologize for being somewhat absent recently. With the new job and some other things going on it's been just a bit hectic.

Anyway, on to the outfit. Neutrals are pretty much amazing. On days where you can't make up your mind.. why not have it all? In neutrals of course! I think this is one of the most important things Stacy and Clinton (of What Not To Wear) teach.

Also, this bag. I love it. I picked it up in Goodwill on Black Friday and it's been my go- to bag ever since. I'm really not sure why it hasn't show up on the blog before. But seriously, it's sort of magic and goes with everything. Yay vintage finds!

Everybody's Workin' For The Weekend

Boy does it feel good to be back in a dress! I just started a new job that requires me to wear jeans, so I've been in pants all week. The upside is that jeans are practical for the job and the cold, wet weather we've been having, so it's not too bad.

Tonight I'm going to a play and I think I'll switch the flats for heels. One of my favorite things about this dress (besides everything) is how easy it is to pair with everything and dress up or down. I know I say this about every dress I own, but it really is one of my favorites.

FOTD: Rainy Day

This look was inspired by the large amounts of rain pouring down outside my window today. I finally got comfortable with eye shadow in neutral colors and now I'm moving forward into scarier colors. Blue is terrifying! When I think blue eye shadow I often think of the shade Jamie Lee Curtis uses in My Girl as she says "A girl can never wear enough blue eye shadow!"

Anyway, since my eyes are somewhat crazy today I kept the rest of the look neutral- a little bit of rosy blush, and a nude lip with gloss. I'm pretty happy with how my face turned out- I really was nervous about the blue. Especially since my eyes are green. I thought it would look kind of funny, but it turned out fine.

Looks pretty stormy right? Perfect for an Oregon Winter!

Owl Always Love You

Something I really like, is the look of long pendant necklaces. I'm not sure why.. Maybe it's my penchant for animal/object shaped accessories, maybe not. Anyway, if you're looking for a great place to find cheap, cute jewelry you should check out Amazon. I was super excited to find this owl necklace (amongst others) in their selection for less than a dollar.

New Year's Goals 2014

Get a car. Last year I finally became a licensed driver, but didn't have enough saved up to get myself some wheels. I'm hoping that this year I'll be able to save enough for something reliable.

See more live music. Last year I only saw people live a handful of times. Local bands at a couple of Summer things my town holds, and I saw Macklemore and Ryan Lewis (squeal!) live at the Rose Garden. This year I'd like to see more than just the one big, live concert. I really enjoy live music.

Read 5 new books. I didn't do very much reading this year. It was weird because normally I tear through books, but I just didn't pick very many up this year. I'm hoping setting a goal for that will hope pull me back into the swing of it.

Save money every month. I'm usually more of a spender than a saver, but I'd really like to change that, especially with college coming up in the Fall.

Complete a photo challenge. At the beginning of the Summer last year I started a 30 day photo challenge but I quit after 26 days.. This year I'd like to finish one all the way through!

Learn 20 songs on my bass. For Christmas this year I received a bass guitar and amp and I would really like to learn to play well. My goal is probably pretty small considering how long a year is, but I like to take baby steps in music and really get something down before moving on.

Shoot (and develop) more film. Last year I only went through about 3 rolls, and I only developed one of them.

Fill another sketchbook. Last year I went through a couple of months of "drawer's block" and wasn't drawing hardly at all, which sucked. I did get back on my feet, but I didn't get my sketchbook filled. This year I'd like to finish my current one, and fill another.

Get outside more. Hiking, camping, fishing, swimming, walking around, these are all things I love but I really didn't do much like that in 2013. Hopefully this year I'll be able to get myself out of the house more (I think being able to drive myself places for things like hiking will be very helpful also).

What are your goals for 2014?

May the tide of the new year and the winds of change make this next year great! What are some of your New Year's resolutions?
