On The Shore Of The Sound

Something I really dislike is having to pack for trips during cold weather. I don't like the feel of a bulky bag or of feeling limited in my choices. I enjoy the process of looking at my closet, choosing between things, and trying different combinations. Packing makes me feel like I need to keep with what I know and not experiment. I also just ironed the dress the other day which ended up being a waste when it went in my backpack.. Oh well.

FOTD: Low- Key Look For Green Eyes

In general, I'm usually a lips person. And by that I mean that I focus very much on the lips when I put on my makeup. I like a bright lip and I think the color of your lipstick can very much make or break the look. Well.. Today I decided to do something different and focus on the eyes and making them my focal point.

For eye shadow I started with a matte nude type color all over the lid. I then used a matte taupe in the crease, and a matte dark chocolate brown at the outer corners which I blended way out to make it very soft looking. I smudged some deep purple into my lower lashline to make the green in my eyes brighter. I used a shimmery pearl color at my inner corners, and lined my waterline with a white kohl pencil. Some black mascara and winged liner finished the look.

I opted for a nude lip and a very small amount of matte blush, as I wanted to keep the focus on my eyes. The lipstick I am wearing here is Rimmel's Nude Delight.

Because of my focus on the lips I don't have a whole lot of skill in the eye makeup department- I'm still learning and practicing. However, I think I did okay today and accomplished my goal of making my eyes stand out a bit.

DIY: Soothing Mask For Breakouts

You will need:
1/3 of a banana (mash it)
2 Tbsp of ground oats
Two spoonfuls of yogurt
1 Tsp of honey
A pinch of nutmeg
Two drops of tea tree oil

Mix it all together into a paste and put it on your facial area, avoiding your mouth and eyes. Let it sit there for about ten minutes, and then rinse off.
Pet your face for a moment.

I use this recipe when my face has deeper, more painful breakouts. It's soothing and moisturizing and generally feels nice on irritated skin.

Monthly Beauty Favorites: November

Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick in Bit Of Berry

This is such a beautiful fall color. It reminds me of the color of cheeks and noses when you come in from the cold or of cranberries. The stay power of this lipstick is awesome as well!

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick Nude Delight

The great search for the perfect nude lippie is a harrowing one that many makeup lovers are familiar with... Okay, maybe that's a bit dramatic. Anyway, I've been on the hunt for the perfect nude lip recently and while I haven't found one that's exactly just right yet, this one is pretty close. It's certainly the most flattering nude I've found so far, and the formula is so moisturizing!

Lush Sympathy For The Skin lotion*

My skin is so soft right now, and it smells like delicious. This stuff is wonderful for cold- weather skin (dry). Did I mention is smells like delicious?

Jordana Best Volume Extreme Volumizing Mascara*

Them eyelashes tho!

It was finally time to find a new mascara this month. The last mascara I used was Covergirl's Clump Crusher and it was okay, but I wasn't particularly smitten with it. It tended to flake and run, even though it made my lashes look awesome. Well, I heard Jordana has good mascaras so I went for this one (I already have longish lashes, but love me some volume)! The brush isn't great, it's kind of huge, but the formula is fantastic. It volumizes, lengthens, and it really black with no flaking or running. I switched out the brush and used my (washed) brush from the Clump Crusher and it works beautifully!

Maybelline Fit Me Blush in Deep Rose

Mine is well loved, as you can see...

I have heard many complaints about the Fit Me! blush line, the main one being that they aren't very pigmented at all. Now... that is a very accurate complaint. This blush is meant for a deep skintone, and I can tell you right now that it would never show up on that skintone. However, if built up a little, its just perfect for someone pale like me and comes out to a lovely pinky plum type color that is just perfect for Fall.

Sinful Colors Nail Polish in GoGo Girl

It's such a perfect true red! I'm a red all-year-round type girl, but I wear it on my nails and lips a lot more during the Fall and Winter. This color is stunning for that.

Livin' The High Life

Doesn't this giraffe just look so cheerful? This is an outfit I tend to return to many times during the cold months. It's so easy and comfortable, especially in cold weather. I can double up on socks or wear three shirts, and it won't look awkward! I especially like that the sweatshirt is long enough that I can wear leggings with it- It's sort of like the warmest (mini)dress imaginable!

The Only Truth I Know Is You: November Mix

This month I've felt steadily more and more mellow- like I'm winding down with the season.

Black and White and Blue all over

Dress: Kohls
Sweater: Thrifted
Tights: Fred Meyer
Shoes: Amazon
Camera Necklace: Amazon
Coat: Thrifted
Lipstick: Dark Side by MAC

Today's outfit was winter inspired, with icy blue, black and white and a cozy sweater. It's gotten much colder recently and so, of course, my thoughts turn to the possibility of a snowy winter (as opposed to the usual rain). How wonderful would that be? It would certainly be prettier, easier to take pictures in, etc.. I have my fingers crossed!

The Nail #2

Polishes used:
Wet N' Wild Megalast 213C On A Trip
Sinful Colors 952 Hazard
Sinful Colors 922 Frenzy
Wet N' Wild Fastdry Clear Coat

The weather started getting drearier and so I tried to brighten things up a bit! It's nice to have non- chipped nails again.

Flannel To Keep Me Cozy

Dress: Thrifted
Leggings: Aeropostale
Sweater: Handknit (by grandma)
Belt: Thrifted
Shoes: Fred Meyer

My name is Kyrena and I am a shopaholic. Well... maybe shoe-aholic would be a more appropriate term. If I was rich, my shoe collection would take up my entire closet. These shoes are my most recent purchase, and I absolutely love them. Have you ever taken a stroll through the shoe section only to be faced with true love in shoe form? I have.

Feeling Blue

Dress: Thrifted
Socks: Fred Meyer
Boots: Thrifted
Hat: ASOS
Jacket: Target (old)

Dreary weather is finally starting to set in. The wind and the rain and the dark clouds.. It's sort of bringing my mood down. Don't get me wrong, I love some rain, but every year it takes me a little while to get into the swing of the season. I miss my simple summer dresses and shorts, and swimming in the lake..
