*Wet N' Wild Wildshine in Tickled Pink

*Wet N' Wild fastdry Clear Coat as a topcoat

It's cloudy and grey today so I thought I would brighten things up with some pretty colors. It's been two weeks since I did my nails anyway, so it was way past time to redo them. I usually like to do them once a week, but I was out of town at the beach and didn't get to. Picture from that trip are on their way!

the weekend + self portrait practice

So plenty happened over the weekend. Went to a funeral, had some fun with a few friends, and went tromping through the woods.

This little guy scared the bajeezus out of me.. I'm terribly arachnophobic, yet can stay calm as long as my camera is between me and those eight legs..

That wasn't all I did this weekend though. I also opened up a brand spankin' new Etsy shop where I sell handknits, things I sew, and photo prints. Here's my shop name and banner: 

I haven't had much practice with graphic design, so I'm pretty proud of that! ;)

I have a lot of photos I want to share from the last couple of weeks, but they aren't really relevant to anything, so I thought I would dump them all in this post and call it good! Brace yourself!

Self portrait from a 30 day challenge I tried to do and failed..  I stopped at like, 26 days I think... Oops.

"What are you wearing today?" Practice with creative self portraits.. I'm pretty happy with it.

The wisterias were in bloom and they were SO beautiful! One of my favorite flowers! :)

A mani I did (but not this week's). If only I could wear yellow clothing.. Yellow seriously makes me look like I have the stomach flu.. Pale and green-tinged.

I absolutely love these shoes, I just don't know when to wear them.. They feel too nice for day-to-day..

makeup and sunny days..

First off, let me just say the weather around here has been gorgeous lately. Sunny and warm, but not hot. I've been able to walk around in skirts and dresses without tights and tee shirts without a sweatshirt... It's real nice..

Now on to the meat of the post! I've been up to some stuff lately. Hauled some makeup (pictures below), getting ready to start on some sewing projects, and went to a poetry slam the other night (I just love poetry..).

Makeup haul:

Lots and lots of Wet N' Wild! I guess when you're low on money you gotta work with what you have.. I haven't done skin makeup before because of acne problems (which looks gross covered up, IMO) so I'm excited to try my new concealer and powder! I'm also VERY excited to try that new hot pink lip color.. Isn't it gorgeous?

So excited to try this color! It's Kate by Rimmel Matte lipstick in 06 (don't remember the name). 

So the sewing projects I've been wanting to try are basically making my own clothes. I have a hard time finding skirts and dresses that fit in all the right places under $30, so I thought I would pull out the fabric from storage and my sewing machine and get to work! I also found a really cute pattern for a cosmetic bag that I would like to try, since I have limited space for things like that!

thrifting (or should I say, garage sale-ing) haul

So on Saturday I helped run a big garage sale. While I was there I also peeked through everyone else's sections and got some great finds! I ended up getting a set of 3 pinup style art canvas prints, an awesome red bag, and a pair of cowboy boots! I always wanted a pair of cowboy boots.. They will look awesome with my white sundress. Here are the pictures:

I'm super excited about the prints. I think they will look super lovely on my new lilac wall! 

visions of purple on my walls

So today I started painting my room. Correction: half of my room. Right now I have one green wall, one plum purple, one robin's egg blue, and one lilac. Today I painted the little walls around my door lilac and I'm hoping to finish painting over the green with the lilac tomorrow. Green is a lovely color, just not for bedroom walls. It gives everything a weird green tinge, including your skin when you look in the mirror. It makes it really hard to successfully do your makeup or know what color your skin actually is. Turns out my skin is not yellow green like my walls convinced me it was... Anyway, I also did some modge podge magic over my light switch plate and my cat kept me company through the whole thing! Pretty colors huh? I am just in love with them. My new room will be lovely! I'm going to re-paint my furniture  too. Instead of being turquoise, my desk will be white with turquoise accents. And instead of being black and blue, my dresser will be white with some other color for an accent. I'm excited! :D What big projects are you working on?

Well... this is try #3 at blogging for me... Recently though, I've found myself inspired by other awesome blogs and wanting something to do with my time. So here I am! To get us started, here's a fun fact about me: I paint my nails once a week!
